Deactivate or delete user
Objective
Remove a user's access to the system. The recommended option is deactivate (preserves history); deletion should only be used in very exceptional cases.
Before starting
- Have
USERS: ADMIN. - Confirm that the user has no critical responsibilities (open cash box, assigned shifts, etc.).
Step by step - Deactivate
- Enter the Users and permissions module.
- Locate the user.
- In the status column, deactivate the switch.
- Confirm the operation.
Step by step - Delete
- Enter the Users and permissions module.
- Locate the user.
- In the row, click the Delete icon (trash can).
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog.
Expected result
- If deactivated: the user can no longer log in. Their history (movements, audit log, charges) is preserved.
- If deleted: the record disappears from the list. The action is recorded in the audit log.
Pending: add screenshot of
usuarios-eliminar-01-confirmacion.png.
Common errors
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| The Delete icon does not appear | The user does not have USERS: ADMIN. |
| The user has an open cash box | Coordinate the cash box closing before deactivating. |
| The deletion fails due to dependencies | Deactivate instead of deleting. |
Suggested permissions
USERS: ADMIN.
Operational recommendations
- Prefer deactivating over deleting. Deactivation preserves history, maintains referential integrity and allows reactivation if the user returns.
- Before deactivating, close active sessions and reassign the user's responsibilities.
Relation with other modules
- Audit log: the operation is recorded.
- Cash box: if the user had an open cash box, it must be closed first.
- Schedule: the deactivated doctor's appointments remain; they can be reassigned to another doctor.
